The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants is active in promoting better corporate governance in Hong Kong. The Institute believes that in order for Hong Kong to remain successful in an increasingly competitive global market and to maintain its status amongst the world's leading financial and commercial centres, it must continue to promote and aspire to achieve international best practice in corporate governance, both in terms of regulations and prevailing practices.
The Institute has undertaken various initiatives to promote and enhance Hong Kong's corporate governance standards. These include:
- Best practice guidance: Producing a series of study reports and practice guidance
- Promotional events and activities: Organizing the Best Corporate Governance Awards
- Representation and advocacy: Commenting on consultation documents and proposals relating to corporate governance or with corporate governance implications
- External and international involvement: Participating in external events and activities and collaborate with other professional and regulatory bodies to promote corporate governance in Hong Kong
